We are thrilled to win UK’s Best Drinks Producer at the BBC Food and Farming Awards 2021! We were initially nominated for the award by YOU - members of the public – which makes winning all the more sweeter! The award is really important to us and is especially humbling when you see all the other finalists and what they have done – the fact that they are doing things that are beautiful and wonderfully crafted but there is also an altruism, responsibility and a lot of thought going into it. The same can be said for our approach at Black Cow.
About The BBC Food and Farming Awards
The BBC Food & Farming Awards launched in 2000, to mark the 20th anniversary of Radio 4’s The Food Programme and since its inception it has continued to champion and highlight the people who, through food, are changing Britain for the better. The Best Drinks Producer category celebrates, according to judge Jaega Wise, “the best of the UK’s drinks producers. People who aren’t just making incredible drinks but are doing things a little bit differently.”
The category received over 500 different nominations from the public, with Black Cow then being judged by presenter and brewer Jaega Wise, who visited the Black Cow Distillery in summer 2021. Black Cow was shortlisted for the award, alongside Dark Woods Coffee and Tillingham Wines, before being named the winner at the ceremony.
